On October 4, 2023, the Rotterdam District Court ruled that the invoices for the 2021 supervisory costs, which were sent to crypto service providers, were unlawful. Now that the levy decisions have been annulled by the court, the crypto companies have requested a refund of funds within one month. DNB has refused this. Following this, the crypto service providers in question formally put DNB in default last Tuesday, November 7, and demanded immediate repayment of the paid invoices. In addition, the trade association Verenigde Bitcoinbedrijven Nederland once again brought its concerns about the costs and DNB supervision of crypto to the attention of the DNB budget panel. To this end, it submitted an extensive letter to both De Nederlandsche Bank and the Ministry of Finance.
